Notes:
Commissioned and premiered by the Spartanburg Philharmonic on December 14, 2019.
An extraordinary arrangement, this piece combines the joyous celebration of Christmas, the fun of a sing-a-long, and the majestic beauty and nostalgia of Copland’s Appalachian Spring. It sits well as the penultimate piece or finale in any holiday concert.
Additional Notes: Because of the shifting keys, this piece is somewhat challenging as a sing-a-long, but it is still fun for most audiences. If performed without audience participation, the first 3 measures are optional, and it is recommended that the opening melody is performed by Clarinet 1 alone (i.e. solo not soli).
In 2020, an Organ part was written to accompany the original orchestration. It is included in the attached parts, but it is not included in the score.
